Planning Grassroots Mapping Forum 7Q4 2014: In our 7th edition of Public Lab's Grassroots Mapping Forum we will be examining oil. Public Lab started as Grassroots Mapping after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion of oil. Grassroots mappers walked and boated the Gulf shoreline with cameras on kites and balloons to document the disaster as it unfolded. Four years later the oil is still present and our communities still depend on oil for energy. This Forum will be a chance to discuss anything and everything connected to this potent source of energy. Contact me if you're interested in contributing a piece by next Thursday, September 25th. I'll get back to you with word limits. Preparation for upcoming issues of the Grassroots Mapping Forum Upcoming: Planning Grassroots Mapping Forum 8January 2015: How about a five year (!!!) anniversary issue on how Grassroots Mapping has transformed over the past five years, a discussion of MapKnitter, the Carto Collective, geographic growth and spread of the GM community and we could have a photo send in/round up of rig versions to see how its been modified. Planning Grassroots Mapping Forum 7Q4 2014: In our 7th edition of Public Lab's Grassroots Mapping Forum we will be examining oil. Public Lab started as Grassroots Mapping after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion of oil. Grassroots mappers walked and boated the Gulf shoreline with cameras on kites and balloons to document the disaster as it unfolded. Four years later the oil is still present and our communities still depend on oil for energy. This Forum will be a chance to discuss anything and everything connected to this potent source of energy.
