I have been working on creating data-layers and to show them on map .
What more useful information can we show ?
Kindly post the link to API as well .
The demo can be seen here : https://publiclab.github.io/leaflet-environmental-layers/example/mapSimple.html
Link to github repository : https://github.com/publiclab/leaflet-environmental-layers/issues/1
Thanks !

@nshapiro or @liz - Sagarpreet had wanted to include some EPA datasets on this combined map (see a bit more here: https://publiclab.org/notes/sagarpreet/06-06-2018/leaflet-environmental-layer-library)
Are there any that come to mind that might be useful contextual data in a many-layers combined map of environmental issues?
https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/upstreamdownstream-search-service and
https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/navigation-delineation-service
seem to show some code samples for Leaflet, and they show watershed delineation and even which streams are upstream or downstream... cool!
Any EDGI datasets that would be good to display?

And i also saw https://toxmap.nlm.nih.gov/toxmap/ from this post: https://publiclab.org/questions/warren/02-01-2018/is-there-a-way-to-view-epa-s-toxics-release-inventory-on-a-map-or-by-location#a836

cool! you can check out EDGI data and join our slack to ask people more in the know than Liz or I here https://envirodatagov.org/archiving/
It looks like there is a lot of data coming together slowly, but is still not very findable or navigable yet. But lots of hard work ongoing!

Hey @sagarpreet ! I was wondering how i could see a map with icons on it for people's usernames/locations? I can see the map that shows my pin on my profile, but I'm searching for people who have profiles from a specific place. Any ideas on how to do that? Is there a layer like the mapknitter one that shows profiles? Hope all is well :) :)

Hey @stevie ! We have a map on https://publiclab.org/people/ which shows the markers of recent contributors only . Would that map help ?
Or else we can figure out a way to show all the contributors from the starting of time but that may fill the map completely .
Hope that helps 😃 !

oh great! That is helpful! Do you remember what qualified someone as a "recent" contributor? Currently, I'm looking for contacts in the European Union for projects (old or new), and thought the map might be a good go-to, but only two people are showing up right now. I wonder if we could get one that shows people who have posted or commented on Public Lab? that way we wouldn't get all profiles, but those we know who have people who have engaged on Public Lab before. What do you think that map would look like?

Okay i got your point . I checked the API's we have and currently we do not have any API that fetches people who have commented/posted (will confirm with @warren as well) .
I guess this API will help in statistical analysis which is also our project for Outreachy intern .
@warren...What do you think ?

And Recent contributor is the one who have posted any node AND we show only recent 100 such contributors . Thanks :)

Maybe we need "recent contributors for the current bounding box" so that would involve refreshing the map. Sorry I am on the run but maybe sagarpreet already suggested that?

Yes and we might ask @stefannibrasil and @milaaraujo (I'm on my phone, can you mention their publiclab usernames?)
Perhaps it could be a sort on an existing API method?

Hey @warren, I'm not sure if I understood. What do you mean with "a sort on an existing API method"?

Well basically I'm curious what you think of the kind of profile search Stevie is interested in and what would be the best way to implement it? Thanks!!!

Hummm, I think we can use your idea and implement a new method to get "recent contributors for the current bounding box".
We already have the method tagNearbyNodes that searches nearby nodes with respect to given latitude, longitute and tags. Maybe we can implement tagNearbyPeople... What do you think? I can work on it.

Sounds like a good idea. Thanks for thinking about this!

I found a lot on the NEI - National Emissions Inventory by the EPA, and posted in a couple places:

Hi folks that are on this thread. (Hello!) @warren mentioned this convo and suggested I throw out a thing to get reactions: Mapping environmental lead exposure is an ongoing conversation happening out there; a number of people are doing it, mostly in silos (within their own city or state for example), and all trying to figure out the best variables.
I wrote up a potential project idea here: https://publiclab.org/notes/read_holman/01-14-2019/seeking-gis-data-folks-help-us-create-a-nation-lead-exposure-risk-map?_=1547506494
Would welcome thoughts, comments, etc (Should we actually have the conversation on that page?)

Hi Read! Did you have that specific Vox map link as well to also paste in here for reference? It used Leaflet, so I wanted to try to pick out the layer code. Thanks!
