It may be the orientation of the camera. If you are using the JDEPC-0V05 as currently shipped with PLAB Spectrometer 3.0 the usb connector should be at the top.
This could be a few things, but the simplest is that you built a spectrometer with the camera rotated 180 degrees from the way it should be in the standard PL kits. Can you rotate your spectra?
