Popular activities within the Public Lab community include:

  • flying kites with cameras over beaches to track pollution at the shoreline

  • flying kites with infrared cameras over wetlands to track loss or restoration over time

  • flying balloons over urban waterways to track sewage in the water and discover what vegetation thrives on the edge.

  • flying balloons or kites over contested urban areas to map local inhabitants narratives and perception of space.

  • attaching a mobile spectrometer to your cell phone to reveal the contents of a distant smoke plume

  • what else?
