What types of organizations, programs, or grants have you had success with? In college my school had a grant specifically for environmental projects, and I would suspect other schools also have similar grants, but I don't have a good sense of where to start looking for funding outside of college.

One avenue is government grants ~ As part of the American Rescue Plan, the EPA will be awarding $20 million to air quality monitoring projects next year, with a $2M carve-out for community projects! The funding opportunity is open for applications from now until February 25, 2022:

In California, the CA Air Resources Board has a Community Air Protection Program that includes funding for community air monitoring projects and community emissions reduction programs. Additional communities will be considered each year.

We usually see one or two of the EPA projects come through the district science fair, each year. The problem is that just monitoring usually doesn't get very far. The projects require testing, a "thesis", and results.

@fongvania Thank you so much for this information! I am thinking forward about funding our air monitoring program and this is a great resource.
