The Dangers Of Overclocking Your Pc
What You Will Need

Everyone has different opinions on what tools are the most effective for overclocking your video card, but I've found these tools are the easiest and most effective:

A Windows machine. Our tutorial today is for Windows machines, since that's where the vast majority of gaming is done.

An NVIDIA or AMD video card. This guide should function for nearly all cards out there, although somewhat different directions may be required by some higher end cards. Make sure to do just a little research on your own particular card to see what any differences may be.

MSI Afterburner. Afterburner is our favored overclocking application for Windows, but you could likely use any overclocking application you desire (as most of them are extremely similar). Despite its name, MSI Afterburner does not need an MSI video card. It will work with just about any video card out there, irrespective of the maker.

A video card benchmarking application, heaven. There are lots of utilities that are standard out there, so that is what we'll use, but Heaven is our favorite.

GPU Z, a convenient utility that gives you a lot of advice about your video card. We won't be actively using this very much, but I recommend having it open as you overclock to make sure your video card actually registers the changes you make in Afterburner.

Patience. Seriously, this is going to take awhile. Grab yourself a cup of tea and a few comic books.

Step One: Do Your Research

Before you need to do whatever else, you read how to overclock gpu should hop on over to Google and do some research on your own card and after that. Sift through websites like Overclock.net and find what type of clock speeds other folks are getting. DON'T merely employ begin benchmarking and these clock speeds —every single card is significantly diffent, and someone with the exact same model card will get an alternative overclock from another guy or woman. The goal here will be to see what others are getting so you realize what's practical —that way, if you get way higher than everyone else, you know something probably isn't working right.

While you are at it, figure out what the voltage that is safe that is greatest is for your card—that'll be convenient when we begin shoving on the voltage. I am using the word "safe" loosely here—clearly, the only really safe voltage is the default option, and raising it can reduce the lifespan of your card.

If you might have a newer, high end card—notably among the NVIDIA Kepler cards—some of your settings will differ than they're for other cards. Make sure to study a guide on your own card to see what each of the settings mean if MSI Afterburner appears a bit different for you.

Open MSI Afterburner and take notice of your stock speeds. Heaven should run to make certain your card is secure at stock speeds before you begin overclocking. You'll also get a benchmark score, which is an excellent way to measure your progress as you overclock. Here's what you should do:

Start Heaven, and you'll be greeted with its initial settings menu.

Tweak its settings however you desire. I generally like to set Quality, Tesselation, and Antialiasing to their maximum values, since I have a midrange card, but if you're overclocking a lower-end card, you may not have to push the settings so far. Make sure that Resolution is set to "System."

Click the Run button. Heaven will start cycling through a series of scenes designed to push your graphics card to its limit. Don't worry if it appears slow or choppy —that's what we need.

Click the "Benchmark" button in the upper lefthand corner of the screen to run a benchmark. This will go through all 26 scenes one time, measuring your card's functionality.

When the benchmark is done, you'll see a window with your score on it. I like to write this down so I can compare it to my post -overclocking scores.

If your card made it through the benchmark run, rejoice! Your card is, at the very least, stable at stock settings and you know carry on reading how to overclock gpu

Download your applications. You must have an a couple of different applications, every one of which can be found free of charge to overclock. These applications will provide you with performance standards, permit you to fix your card time and voltage, and track temperature operation.

Download a benchmark program - There are several available, but one of the quickest and most intuitive is Heaven. It is available free of charge the programmers, from Unigine. Another application that is popular is 3DMark.

Download an overclocking software. While both AMD and Nvidia have overclocking utilities in their own, MSI Afterburner is among typically the most popular and widely-used software. Despite the name of it's, it's going to work with almost every graphics card from Nvidia and AMD.[2]

Download a program that is monitoring. Occasionally it is great to have another computer screen to make certain that your entire settings require although overclocking and standard software will report temperatures and speeds. GPU Z is a lightweight application that'll track every other facet of your graphics card, clock speed, memory speed, and the temperature.

We’ve all gone a bit giddy over Nvidia’s new 900-series graphics cards. 970 and the GTX 980 are both enormous overclockers—the 970 overclocked can run nearly as quickly as the benchmark 980—and those overclock increases help separate them from your still-rapid AMD R9 cards and Nvidia GTX 700 series. But you don’t need a new graphics card to be able to indulge in a little GPU tweakery. If your card is a year or two (or three) old, overclocking is the best way to squeeze a little more life (and higher graphics settings) out of it without spending any money.

Years ago, eager overclockers did genuinely run the risk of cooking their chips. Overclocking wasn't the most user-friendly process. But now times have changed. There are so many safeguards in place in your silicon that you’d have to really try to brick your hardware while doing some standard overclocking. There's still a small threat to overclocking, however: depending on which aftermarket vendor made your card, you may void your warranty. If anything goes wrong, you'll probably just crash your machine and need to restart; you're unlikely to do serious damage your graphics card unless your overclock keeps the card at dangerous temperatures for long periods of time.

Every GPU is different, and some cards are champion overclockers for those you dont have to read how to overclock gpu. I was able to break the 1.5GHz barrier with my GTX 970 G1 Gaming edition, partly because Gigabyte specially check their overclocking card’s chips to make sure they’re the ones with the most headroom. PC crash is a dreadful phenomenon for the PC users. The PC suddenly decides to shut down and it does wants to boot up. Sometimes it loses the hard disk data. As the world is now digitized, we keep our digital information on our PC, and if the access to that PC is denied, it is certainly a dreadful phenomenon. There are also people for whom, PC is everything. It is their source of income, source of entertainment etc. Moreover, no matter what, it is an important tool that we need every day.

Now the Cell Menu is where all the overclocking goes on. We will now cover the basics of what to setup so that you can start overclocking. From the Cell Menu, disable Intel EIST, disable C1E Support, and the OC Genie Button Operation. You can leave the Base Clock Button on and leave the MEMORY-Z DRAM Timing Mode to Auto. You are going to want to adjust the Memory Ratio to something that is within the specifications, so we are going to with a memory ratio of 4. You want to turn the QPI Ratio down to the lowest possible setting, so in our case it is 16. Leave the ClockGen Tuner alone. Load Line Calibration can be left on but we will be turning it off for now. Intel has this set that way for a reason so keep in mind we are overriding a default option.

Improperly installed drivers: Hardware is run through drivers. When you use hardware, you use it through the driver. If the driver is not properly installed, the driver will not be able to properly perform the task that you have assigned and there is a strong chance that the PC will crash.

Memory speed: I don't care what the people who sold you the RAM told you, if you're running memory at more than 230MHz, that's a potential bottleneck. You can't say you know the true speed of your CPU until you've reduced memory speed down to around 200MHz.

Still, there are limitations to everything. No matter how great an invention is, there are still glitches along the way. Some say that there are lagging issues with their Android devices. But there is no need to ditch this OS. A little tweaking can make it more amazing to use. Just follow these pointers to know.
