Games/Activities to know about Air Pollution

by silentsairam | June 16, 2019 18:14 16 Jun 18:14 | #19716 | #19716

We all knew that Air Pollution is important to be solved before it becomes a serious issue. It is hard for anyone to understand how "Air" affects us as it's not seen as other kinds of Pollution. Also, very difficult for a Young student to know: Why, How, where, What of Air Pollution.

I am trying to work in from of Handbook or Workbook that forms part of their Environmental Science subject or any platform where Civic Issue is being addressed with ease in the form of Games/Activites.

Sharing a few pictures of the work here and so share your ideas.

Up next:

  1. Key terms associated with Air Pollution,
  2. Games in the form of Mapping the Waste.
  3. Understanding Indoor /Outdoor Pollutants with help of House /School /Outdoor places scenario.
  4. Importance of Technology & collect data around an air quality sensor.
  5. Air Quality Audit sheet are few I am working on.

I love these and can't wait to see what's next.

The EPA also has some air-quality materials that you could use for reference here: https://cfpub.epa.gov/airnow/index.cfm?action=aqikids.index

Another super fun (if dated) thing from the EPA is their "Dumptown" game where young people act as the mayor of a city and work to reduce waste. Here's a link: https://www3.epa.gov/recyclecity/index.htm

Is this a question? Click here to post it to the Questions page.

Above are some posters regarding AQI colors that could translate into some cool coloring sheets.

Above is a teacher's AQI guide, also from the EPA.

Thanks, @mimiss : Before I ventured out on this Activites I researched on a few of things EPA tried in past which inspired me too.

Also, I wanted it to be in the form of a Handbook or Activity book as anyone would use Pencil and play with it. Then Erase, share it with friends and somehow sense of purpose starts building around Air they inhale & exhale. Suprise Games are coming along the way, but all these simple games students would have come across in their usual studies(EX: Choose, Match, Unscramble, etc)

PS: I do not want these Games to be Digital based as it affects their health & tends to Browse if they are less aware of things.

The control vehicle pollution for human health: Clean vehicle and fuel technologies provide us with a reasonable , available means of reducing transportation-related pollution and global climate change emissions. These include fuel-efficient vehicles that use less oil; cleaner fuels that produce fewer emissions; and electric cars and trucks which will entirely remove tailpipe emissions. https://cementconcrete.org/transportation/modes-of-transportation-difference-between-railway-transport-and-road-transport/1246/

Strong federal and state policies also help. Vehicle emission standards have helped cut pollution from cars and trucks by about 90 percent since 1998, with further improvements coming from the Tier 3 standards. https://cementconcrete.org/building-construction/building-survey/2598/ Future emissions reductions from trucks and other freight sources are essential for meeting air quality standards and protecting the health of these who live and work on the brink of ports, rail yards, and freight corridors.
