Citizens can use litigation to hold accountable polluters and others whose actions adversely impact the environment. These actions can include wastewater treatment plants discharging sewage into public waters, factories or cars emitting harmful air contaminants that make residents sick, or industrial facilities improperly disposing of their solid wastes.

I found this helpful link, which emphasizes, "Citizen science can play an important role in citizen environmental enforcement by producing evidence for use in litigation. Evidence includes, but is not limited to, eyewitness testimony, photographs, videos, and sampling data. "

Does anyone have examples of successfully entering evidence in a legal realm?

Great link! their work is amazing. Since publication, there has been the amazing Formosa win in 2020 where people collected and submitted boxes of "nurdles" — the largest ever win under the Clean Air Act >$50M San Antonio Bay Estuarine Waterkeeper et al. vs. Formosa Plastics Corporation et al. https://static.texastribune.org/media/files/193f5484368b30dcdd2e6dd1b30a1eec/Formosa.pdf?_ga=2.193550381.1213474106.1561991418-765179048.1533865077
