I’m a doctoral candidate in Communications and Media with the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I’m interested in the evolution of location-aware projects in alternative media (including grassroots mapping) and open source, community-oriented mapping models in general. As part of my dissertation research, I’ll be reviewing Public Lab’s work online as well as looking to contribute through local projects and participating in Public Lab workshops and events.
In writing up any findings from the research, personal identifiers will not be published or presented. Overall, the dissertation will contain no such information (including usernames) that would reveal any user’s identity except in attribution of publicly available authored publications.
