Statins are one of the most prescribed classes of drugs, and atorvastatin is the most used drug in that class. People take statins to lower their blood cholesterol levels and reduce their risk of heart disease. However, statins may also lower levels of testosterone and other androgens. ->

#1 Ok ive searched all over forums trying to find a answer to this and i cant get a straight answer. I went to the doc and got my bloodwork done, my cholesterol is A-OK everything is fine, but what is high is my triglycerides. They were at 350.
They are divided into four groups: Low-potency topical steroids, e. g. hydrocortisone and prednisolone Medium-potency topical steroids like prednicarbate, methylprednisolone aceponate High-potency topical steroids such as betamethasone valerate and mometasone furoate Ultra-high-potency topical steroids, such as clobetasol propionate
The single doses of testosterone produced a dose-dependent increase in serum testosterone concentrations together with suppression of s-LH and s-FSH. Alterations in ApoA1 and HDL were observed after the two highest single doses. It is possible that long-time abuse of anabolic androgenic steroids will lead to alteration in vitamin D status.
Health Library / Treatments & Procedures / Anabolic Steroids Anabolic Steroids Anabolic steroids have legitimate medical purposes. Healthcare providers prescribe them for certain conditions, such as male hypogonadism and certain types of breast cancer. But anabolic steroid misuse is common. People often misuse these drugs to build lean muscle mass.
By Jennifer Moll, PharmD Updated on June 30, 2023 Medically reviewed by Richard N. Fogoros, MD Statins like Lipitor (atorvastatin) can interact with many different medications such as Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir) and the HIV medication Norvir (ritonavir). These drug interactions can change the medication's effectiveness or make side effects more likely.
Very rarely, statins can cause life-threatening muscle damage called rhabdomyolysis (rab-doe-my-OL-ih-sis). Rhabdomyolysis can cause extreme muscle pain, liver damage, kidney failure and death. The risk of very serious side effects is extremely low. Only a few cases of rhabdomyolysis occur per million people taking statins.
The statins are widely used worldwide to reduce risk for cardiovascular events in both the primary and secondary prevention settings. Although generally quite safe, the statins can be associated with a variety of serious side adverse effects, including myalgia, myopathy, and changes in plasma enzymes of hepatic origin. Although rare, the most serious of these is rhabdomyolysis. Several drugs .
Rarely, statins may cause bad side effects, including: Confusion. Memory loss. Damage to your kidneys. Damage to your liver. Bad problems with your muscles. Type 2 diabetes or high blood sugar. Adults and teens can take statins. Most people don't have side effects from statins, but you shouldn't take them if you're pregnant, nursing or .
Anabolic steroids are used for several reasons: To help patients gain weight after a severe illness, injury, or continuing infection. They also are used when patients fail to gain or maintain normal weight because of unexplained medical reasons. To treat certain types of anemia. To treat certain kinds of breast cancer in some women.
Testosterone is in the drug class androgens and anabolic steroids . Testosterone is used to treat the following conditions: Breast Cancer, Palliative Delayed Puberty, Male Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy Gender Dysphoria (off-label) Hypogonadism, Male Klinefelter Syndrome (off-label) Postpartum Breast Pain Drug and food interactions Moderate
1 Introduction. Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are a class of natural and synthetic hormones that owe their name to their chemical structure (the steroid nucleus, see Figure 1) and the biological effects (anabolic and androgenic) they induce. Anabolic refers to the skeletal muscle-building properties of AAS, whereas androgenic refers to the induction and maintenance of male secondary .
How statins work. Statins lower the blood level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad" cholesterol. They achieve this by blocking a key enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol and by turning on mechanisms in liver cells to remove LDL cholesterol from the blood. High levels of LDL can lead to fatty deposits (plaque) in artery walls .
Statins can lower heart disease risk dramatically, but certain cautions apply. Nearly a quarter of all adults over age 40 take medication to treat high cholesterol, and most often, it's a statin drug. However, with such widespread use, especially among people who may have other cardiovascular risk factors, an un-wanted interaction between a .
Anabolic-androgenic steroids abuse has become particularly prevalent in regions, such as Scandinavia, the US, Brazil, and British Commonwealth countries . Interestingly, a survey in 2006 revealed that only 38% of interviewed athletes were aware of side effects related to anabolic steroids . Commercial magazines relevant to body builders may .
Ninety patients with compromised left ventricular ejection fraction (≤30%) undergoing elective coronary surgery were equally randomized to one of three groups: statin group, treatment with atorvastatin (20 mg/day) 3 weeks before surgery; methylprednisolone group, a single shot of methylpredniosolone (10mg/kg); and control group.
The most common side effects of statins are muscle aches and feeling tired. Other side effects that aren't as common are headaches, constipation, diarrhea, and sleep problems. A 2022 study published in The Lancet reviewed the records of over 150,000 people in randomized trials of statins, and analyzed those who had muscle aches after taking .
What are they? Anabolic steroids are drugs that athletes take to boost their strength and add muscle. These drugs also are called anabolic-androgenic steroids. They are made to work like a hormone that the body makes called testosterone. Testosterone has two main effects on the body: Helps build muscle.
If you must take a statin and fibrate together, fenofibrate is generally preferred.
Statins are drugs that can lower your cholesterol. They work by blocking a substance your body needs to make cholesterol. Lowering cholesterol isn't the only benefit associated with statins. These medications have also been linked to a lower risk of heart disease and stroke. These drugs may help stabilize the plaques on blood vessel walls and .
Anabolic steroids (also known as androgenic steroids) are synthetic derivatives of testosterone. Legal, as well as the illegal use of anabolic steroids, is gaining popularity. There are two types of anabolic steroids: 1) 17 alpha alkyl derivatives and 2) 17 beta ester derivatives. All anabolic steroids are DEA schedule III drugs. This activity will highlight the mechanism of action, adverse .
Anabolic steroids (AS) are synthetic derivatives of the male sex hormone testosterone. The use of AS is not limited to bodybuilders and athletes, but non-athletes also use them. It is used to enhance athletic performance, induce muscle hypertrophy, and augment male sexual characteristics.
Anabolic androgenic steroid (AAS) and performance-enhancing drug (PED) use is a prevalent medical issue, especially among men, with an estimated 2. 9-4 million Americans using AAS in their lifetime. Prior studies of AAS use reveal an association with polycythemia, dyslipidemia, infertility, hypertension, left ventricular hypertrophy, and .
